Pendulums

Pendulums can be thought of as an extension of the intuition, since pendulums are used to gain access to information that exists at the subconscious level. As an extension of the intuition, crystal pendulums can give you information from the same two sources as the intuition: from your own subconscious mind; and from your guidance, spirit, or guardian angel. Crystal pendulums are wonderful for healing chakra work, communication work, dowsing, and making a choice of any kind!

We all have the ability to access our intuitive capacities by using pendulums. Learning to use pendulums is like learning any other skill. It requires time, determination, trust, balance and persistent practice. Every object, animate or inanimate, gives off energetic radiation, and our expanded senses can feel and measure these energies. The intuitive, or superconscious mind is the recipient of this information when we access the bridge to it.

Pendulums are a communication device between the conscious and the subconscious mind. Pendulums themselves do not give you answers. Pendulums are nothing more than objects to give you the means to make conscious the intuition. Using pendulums successfully is a matter of establishing a clear, precise and consistent language between the two parts of the mind. The subconscious mind takes all communications literally. It takes time for the subconscious to understand what is expected of it and respond accordingly. It is necessary to approach the pendulum with enthusiasm, optimism and confidence. Using dowsing pendulums is an incredible skill that can allow you access to information, knowledge and wisdom beyond all limitations!

How Pendulums Work
Pendulums can be thought of as an extension of the intuition, since they are used to gain access to information that exists at the subconscious level of the Inner Being. It could be said that pendulums amplify the intuition because they convert the subtleties of the intuition into a more obvious form of physical motion. When you ask a question of the pendulum, it is your own intuition that answers it. Crystal pendulums merely allow you to physically see what the intuition already knows. As an extension of the intuition, they can give you information from the same two sources as the intuition: from your own subconscious mind; and from your guidance, spirit, or guardian angel. Because of how pendulums operate, they can only answer questions that are phrased so that the answer is either "yes" or "no".

Universal Symbols of Shape and Color
The following shapes and colors have a Universal meaning, yet in almost every religion, culture and part of the world, they have their own specific meaning to go along side these definitions. These shapes are universally recognized and play a part of our subconscious mind in one way or another. The colors represent one general idealism; yet can represent something entirely different if used in a different context.

Circle (ball): An ancient and universal symbol of unity, wholeness, infinity, the goddess, and female power. A romantic attachment or deep friendship and a sacred space. The circle symbolizes the sacred and spiritual including the "sacred" earth.

Diamond (faceted): Because of its perfect symmetry, the diamond vibrates toward harmony. This makes it an excellent shape for meditation gardens or those used for culinary purposes. As this shape also vibrates toward the solidity of Earth, it’s a good bet for magical gardens involving prosperity and abundance, and issues of the family, home, and hearth.

Heart: generally, hearts represent love, but may also indicate a romantic disposition. True love, happiness, financial gain, lasting love, and love for other.

Hexagon: is a polygon with six edges and six vertices. The word hexagon is derived from the Latin hexagnum, from Greek hexagnos, having six angles. This hexagonal star is faceted and carved from natural crystal. Use it for balancing Chakras, laying on problem areas, creating a crystal grid, to amplify the power of your other stones, power up your positive affirmations. Place this star in any room where you want to create a balanced, healthy environment.

Octagon: Eight denotes the intermediary region between earth and heaven or, microcosm, between body and spirit; and the octagon is a symbol of the "best" part of psychic substance that is the vehicle of spiritual light. The octagon expresses the nearness to heaven of the psychic elements in question, and by being almost circular in form it expresses their all but spiritual nature.

Oval: This voluptuous and feminine shape not only represents completeness, but is also a symbol of the infinite. It conjures up the idea of wisdom and the power of longevity and for all eternity.

Rectangle: The rectangle symbolizes the female form. Intelligence; Protector; Divine contemplation. The rectangle also symbolizes the equilibration of the fourfold forces.

Square: The square represents the physical world. Like the quartered circle, it points pagans to the four compass directions: north, east, south and west.

Star (merkaba): are drawn by ambitious people and may suggest a desire for self-promotion. Little stars indicate optimism, while asymmetrical stars suggest excess energy. A sign of hope, love, joy and prosperity, protection against fires, good fortune, hope, love, fertility, energy and harmony. The unique qualities of the star (merkaba) are the divine light vehicle used by ascended masters to connect with those in tune with the higher realms. "Mer" means Light. "Ka" means Spirit. "Ba" means Body. Mer-Ka-Ba means the spirit/body surrounded by counter-rotating fields of light, (wheels within wheels), spirals of energy as in DNA, which transports spirit/body from one dimension to another.

Triangle (pyramid): Associated with the number three. Pointing upwards, it symbolizes fire, male power, good luck; Pointing down, it symbolizes water, female sexuality, goddess, religions, take care.

Combination Triangle and Ball: energy point with ball adds both the element of a point, which vibrates toward harmony and the Universal symbol of unity. This makes it an excellent shape for meditation gardens or those used for culinary purposes. As this shape also vibrates toward the solidity of Earth. The ball or circle is an ancient and universal symbol of unity, wholeness, infinity, the goddess, and female power.

If you’ve ever admired a sparkling display of pendulums in a new-age shop before, you probably noticed that there were many different shapes, colors, and baubles that comprised them – not to mention a variety of materials such as crystals, metal, and wood, too. The uniqueness of each pendulum, its shape, color, and material makeup – these aren’t the only differences that separate one pendulum from another. There are actually different types of pendulums as well!

Not knowing the differences from one pendulum to the next can really add to the confusion when you’re trying to choose one to work with, even for an experienced dowser. If you’d like to know more about the different types of pendulums you can work with, read on. One of them might be just the right type for you!

Beginner’s Pendulum: A beginner’s pendulum can usually be identified by its very simple and basic design. Typically a beginner’s pendulum consists of a gemstone weight and a sterling silver or silver plated chain. The shape of the weight is often rounded at the bottom resembling an inverted teardrop. At the end of the chain you will usually find a bead, charm, or small crystal. While most pendulums have something of this nature at the end of the chain or cord, it’s especially common for beginner’s pendulums to have this feature as it helps the “newbie” dowser get comfortable holding their new pendulum.

Chakra Pendulum: Not only are chakra pendulums beautiful, they’re easy to identify, too. Need a hint? Just look for a pendulum that features the colors of your chakras: typically red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple/clear chakra featured along the sterling silver chain, in either gemstone chips or beads. Others have the chakra colors displayed in or on the pendulum weight itself. I’ve seen weights that have gemstones representing each chakra aligned vertically on a pendulum weight. I’ve also seen a “cage” weight with each chakra gemstone inside the cage – either all at once or one at a time. Chakra pendulums can be used for all manners of dowsing, but are especially designed for chakra balancing, clearing, and healing.

Chambered Pendulums: Chambered pendulums are pretty darn cool if you ask me! They go unnoticed sometimes because they are usually pretty plain on the outside. Often made of wood, chambered pendulums are just that – chambered. It you look closely at one, you’ll see that you can remove the top by carefully unscrewing it. The bottom half of the weight is a tiny chamber that you can put something in. Chambered pendulums are especially useful when dowsing for other people, especially when dowsing at a distance or dowsing for a missing person.

*Please note: Never put liquids of any kind inside a chambered pendulum if it’s made of wood. Liquids will soak into the wood and cause permanent damage to your pendulum.

Egyptian Pendulum: While readily available, Egyptian pendulums are not always as easy to find as some of the other types. Egyptian pendulums stand out in the crowd, though, that’s for sure! Slender in appearance, the top of the pendulum weight stands regal and proud. To me, it resembles a chess piece. The bottom of the weight is simple and smooth, and it comes to a slim, rounded point. Egyptian pendulums come in a variety of materials including but not limited to gemstones, porcelain, and wood. They are excellent for all matters of dowsing but are especially helpful when it comes to locating or selecting land, precious resources (metals and water), and lost objects.

Hexagonal Pendulum: Hexagonal pendulums are very similar to beginner’s pendulums in their simplicity, but their hexagonal shape is what gives them their uniqueness when it comes to healing. An inverted hexagonal cone, these pendulums closely resemble the shape of a beehive. What does this symbol represent for us? How about community? If you’d like to work with a pendulum that will improve and heal communication issues, relationships, and collaborations, perhaps this is the right match for you.

The Care and How to Use Pendulums

If you are drawn to a particular pendulum, it has probably already choosen you.
Cleanse pendulums by running them under luke warm water or do a smudging with sage.
You can charge pendulums with energy by placing them on a crystal cluster, in a bowl with hematite or with quartz.
If your pendulum is made from crystal, look at the specific cleansing for that particular crystal. Some crystals do not like salt water, sun, extreme heat, extreme cold or water.
Keep pendulums in a covered or in a bag to eliminate the dust accumulation.
Ask your questions with the proper intention. Keep your mind clear and positive.

Connecting to Your Higher Self

Limited views and opinions are stifling. They detach us from reality, decrease our awarenss and shut down our mind. Gaining a broader perspective is self awareness. Being able to open up your mind, allowing a free flow of thoughts and ideas can be liberating! Welcoming a new opinion or way of doing something can bring new meaning to your life. If you give up your closed thoughts and make way for a different opinion, you may be surprised at the outcome!

Striving to meet difficult goals has pushed us to stretch the horizons of what we think is possible. We share the ways in which obstacles and challenges have made us stronger, and given us confidence to continue setting goals and dreams in our adventures, our business, and in our day to day lives. This is conscious living.

Work with your Higher Self. Any of your guides, spirits and angels can go through your Higher Self. Start by speaking to your spirits either aloud of in your head. Tuning in to any energy is the ability to quiet the mind, allowing your inner self, or intuition, to perceive truth. By practicing this art, we develop a sensitivity toward inner information and the ability to condition our mind to listen on a much more subtle level. This developing can give us the ability to sense energy and actually perceive on an even more subconscious plane.

The Intuitive Learning Process

There are three stages our mind goes through in learning to comprehend a situation or idea:

1. Sensory Perception is the process in which we decipher information that is received in the cerebral cortex from the lower sensory or motor area. It is the perceiving or intuitive act that we receive when we see something, touch or feel something, hear or smell something. In turn, we deduct a situation in our minds based on these small, intense discoveries.

2. Surrender is the action of yielding one's person or giving up the possession of something or into the power of another. By letting go, it leaves us exposed, opened, vulnerable, defenseless. Only by surrendering, are we completely and fully able to allow the universe to take over and truly lead us to the most natural and simple path. By allowing this path of least resistance into your life, you receive what is intended.

3. Illumination is receiving power! There is nothing more enlightening than looking at something you do not understand or quit comprehend until that moment when suddenly, it becomes so very clear to you, that you just cannot believe you did not see it in the first place! This self-discovery, or illumination we experience is one of the greatest gifts we can receive. This is due, in many ways, to our sensory perceptions which takes place in this discovery process and the ability to allow ourselves to surrender.

This Intuitive Learning Process is something we can apply to ANY situation in our lives! Whether learning a craft, understanding the computer, or accepting any given situation, this process will help you to "open your mind" and allow new ideas, new creativity, and new insight to flow freely. Try it!
